8-Day Yunnan Private Tour: Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La

Upon arrival in Kunming, you will be warmly welcomed by your private guide and driver. A comfortable vehicle will transfer you to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free for you to relax after your journey and prepare for the exploration ahead.

After breakfast, visit the Naigu Stone Forest, known for its dramatic rock formations and quieter atmosphere compared with more heavily visited areas. This striking natural landscape offers a peaceful and impressive introduction to Yunnan’s geological wonders.

Later, explore Yuantong Temple, a historic Buddhist temple with a history of more than 1,200 years, reflecting the cultural diversity of Yunnan Province. Continue to Green Lake Park, where you may see local residents gathering for music, dance, and other daily activities that bring the city to life.

Transfer to Kunming Railway Station and take a bullet train to Dali. Upon arrival, meet your local private guide and driver and begin your Dali exploration.

Visit Xizhou Village to gain insight into Bai culture, traditional homes, local customs, and daily life. Then enjoy the beauty of Erhai Lake along its western shore, where open lake views, flowers, and mountain scenery create a relaxed and refreshing atmosphere.

Afterward, explore Dali Ancient Town, known for its historic streets, traditional architecture, lively markets, and local character. In your spare time, the famous Three Pagodas can also be a good landmark for photography.

Then continue to Lijiang Ancient Town, also known as Dayan Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with cobbled lanes, traditional Naxi-style buildings, craft shops, and a charming old-town atmosphere. You may also climb Lion Hill for a broader view over the town.

Today’s highlight is Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the sacred mountain of the Naxi people. Take a cable car to Glacier Park at high altitude, where forests, meadows, and snow-covered peaks create a memorable alpine landscape.

Continue to Blue Moon Valley, famous for its remarkably blue water and beautiful mountain surroundings. Later, enjoy a hands-on cultural experience by learning to make Naxi baba, a traditional local pancake, and tasting it together with other local dishes for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit Baisha Village to see the historic Baisha Murals, then meet a Dongba cultural representative to gain insight into the spiritual traditions, language, and heritage of the Naxi people.

Depart Lijiang and travel by private transfer toward Shangri-La. Along the way, stop at Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest and most dramatic canyons in China. Here, the powerful Jinsha River rushes through a narrow mountain gorge, creating an unforgettable natural spectacle.

After lunch, continue ascending toward Shangri-La, where the elevation reaches around 3,200 meters. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take time to rest and adjust to the higher altitude.

Later, continue to Pudacuo National Park, known for its highland lakes, forests, and well-preserved natural ecosystem, including the beautiful scenery around Bita Lake and Shudu Lake.
