Lingyin Temple

Founded in 326 AD, Lingyin Temple (Temple of Soul’s Retreat) is a sanctuary of profound peace. Hidden within the limestone peaks of Fei Lai Feng, it houses hundreds of intricate Buddhist carvings dating back a thousand years. As you wander through the grand halls and breathe in the scent of incense, you will discover the world’s largest statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha in the seated lotus position, hand-carved from a single block of camphor wood.

One of China’s largest and wealthiest Buddhist temples, nestled in a lush forest filled with ancient grottoes.
