Leshan Giant Buddha

Gazing calmly over the confluence of three rivers, the 71-meter-tall Leshan Giant Buddha is a breathtaking feat of 8th-century engineering. Carved over 90 years from a massive sandstone cliff, this UNESCO World Heritage site was built to calm the turbulent waters for passing ships.
