Heavenly Lake of Tianshan

Perched at 1,910 meters above sea level, Heavenly Lake (Tianchi) is a breathtaking alpine mirror reflecting the jagged, shimmering summits of the Bogda Peak. Formed during the Quaternary Glacial period, this moraine-dammed lake is surrounded by dense spruce forests and vibrant wildflower meadows. Beyond its geological wonder, it is a place of profound legend, revered as the “Jewel of the Queen Mother of the West.” Visitors can cruise across the deep blue waters to the Western Queen Mother Temple or hike along the lakeside trails to witness the “Three Hanging Waterfalls.” Whether shrouded in morning mist or sparkling under the high-altitude sun, Tianchi offers a sublime escape into the spiritual and natural heart of the Tianshan Range.
